An update from the Parish Office, and from Rome...
Farewell to Helen Chew
Helen Chew worked in the office for almost 8 years as the parish bookkeeper. She also did many other tasks such as purchasing goods for the parish and the piety stall. She also took on the responsibility of managing the hall bookings. We would like to wish Helen the very best as she begins another chapter of her life – working in the Archdiocesan Finance office. Best wishes to you Helen.
World Mission Sunday
Today is World Mission Sunday and the theme Pope Francis has chosen is taken from the Gospel parable of the wedding banquet: After the guests refused his invitation, the King, the main character of the story tells his servants “Go therefore to the thoroughfares and invite to the marriage feast as many as you can find” (Matthew 22:9). The Holy Father highlights two aspects of these words.
• “Go and invite” Mission as a tireless going out to invite others to the Lord’s banquet.
• “To the marriage feast” This is the eschatological (end time) and Eucharistic dimensions of the mission of Christ and the Church.
• “Everyone” The universal mission of Christ’s disciples is to the world – every person. So, we pray today that the Lord may guide us and help us to be more missionary in our Christian outlook.
