How close is God to me?
Is God remote or aloof?
God accompanies us at every moment of our short or long life. The word “accompany” suggests a very strong meaning. It can mean attending to someone actively, to add and enrich, and to support (as in musical accompaniment.) Each meaning adds a layer of depth in regard to how God accompanies us in life and through death. It is interesting to note that the word accompany is French corruption of words, companion and company, which are from the Latin words “com” (with) and “panis” (bread) with one who breaks the same bread. God is with us, which of course is the story of the (incarnation.
New Encyclical
The Holy Father Francis has written his fourth Encyclical “Dilexit Nos.” This Encyclical is dedicated to the human and divine love of the Heart of Jesus Christ. His open heart has gone before us, unconditionally, asking only to offer us His love and friendship. To read this document follow the link.
