The Month for All Souls
Praying for our beloved dead on All Souls’ Day and throughout the month of November, we are reminded that we are connected to others. We are what we are in good part because of those who have passed away. On a deeper level, All Souls’ Day reminds us that the bonds of baptism make us one in Christ and are stronger than death.
This is the day (month) not only for quiet remembering but also for affirming life in the face of death. All Souls’ Day celebrates the Resurrection of Christ as a guarantee of eternal life. It is a time to pray for those who have passed away. This is a celebration of life: your life, my life, the lives of people we remember, the spiritual life that ties us together and the eternal life in the Lord.
All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day reminds us that we are part of a large spiritual community.
